Skip Hire Services in Sundorne
We deliver skips into Sundorne (SY1) from £150, with next-day delivery as standard and same-day subject to availability, run by our own fleet from our Madeley depot near Telford - a family-run, Environment Agency registered firm with over 20 years in the waste trade.
Local skip hire across Sundorne
Sundorne is an established suburb on the north-east side of Shrewsbury, about a mile and a quarter from the town centre, and we deliver skips right across it - the length of Sundorne Road between Heathgates Roundabout and Sundorne Roundabout, the estate avenues and crescents off it like Sundorne Avenue, Sundorne Crescent and Corndon Crescent, Meadow Farm Drive, the streets around Shrewsbury Sports Village and out to the edge of Sundorne Retail Park on Arlington Way. If you are anywhere in the SY1 4 postcode patch, we will get a skip to you.
We will be straight with you: we are not a Shrewsbury firm. Our depot is in Madeley, Telford, and we deliver into Sundorne from there - but the run is nearly all motorway and dual carriageway, which makes Sundorne one of the easiest Shrewsbury-side drops we do. Every size is kept in stock at the depot: 3 and 4 yard minis, 6 yard midis, our most popular 8 yard builders skip, and 10 and 12 yard maxis. Standard hire includes 7 days, and you can book online in about two minutes.
Skip sizes for Sundorne homes and projects
Most of Sundorne is classic 20th-century estate housing - bay-fronted 1930s and mid-century three-bed semis with front and rear gardens, driveways and often a detached garage. That makes it natural 4 to 6 yard territory: a 4 yard mini handles a garden clearance or a garage and shed clearout, while a 6 yard midi is the sweet spot for a kitchen or bathroom rip-out in one of the estate's semis. There are pockets of flats in the suburb too, and for end-of-tenancy and rental clearances a 4 or 6 yard skip usually does the job without crowding the frontage.
For a full house clearance or a bigger renovation, our 8 yard builders skip is the size most Sundorne households end up choosing - it takes roughly 80 bin bags of mixed waste - and the 10 and 12 yard maxis cover major refits and extension jobs. One important tip for Sundorne's driveway and paving projects: heavy soil, hardcore and rubble should go in smaller skips rather than a maxi. A big skip filled with rubble would exceed safe lifting weights, so splitting heavy inert waste across smaller loads keeps everything legal and liftable.
Next-day skip delivery to Sundorne and SY1
From our Madeley depot the route to Sundorne is a simple one: along the M54 to its western end, on up the A5 towards Shrewsbury, north onto the A49 at the traffic-light junction at Preston Island, up the north-east bypass and off at Sundorne Roundabout onto the B5062 Sundorne Road - which runs straight into the heart of the suburb. It is roughly 16 to 18 miles, almost all of it motorway or dual carriageway, so next-day delivery is our standard offer and same-day is often possible subject to availability. Around Arlington Way and Heathgates Roundabout the retail-park traffic builds at peak times and weekends, so if timing matters, tell us and we will plan around it.
Wherever you are in Sundorne, the skip sits on your own private driveway or land for the whole hire - somewhere firm and level that the lorry can pull up to without obstruction. Most of the suburb's semis have the frontage for that without any fuss. If yours is a shared driveway, check the skip can sit entirely on your own side with room to spare, and mention that - along with anything else about access - when you book.
Commercial skips around Sundorne
The north-east side of Shrewsbury has a busy commercial fringe, from the big-name stores at Sundorne Retail Park on Arlington Way to the trade and business units dotted around the suburb. We supply 8, 10 and 12 yard builders skips for shopfitting and unit strip-outs, refurbishment waste and site clearances, and we work with the builders, landscapers and property maintenance trades who keep Sundorne's mid-century housing stock updated.
Trades with a steady flow of waste can skip the week-by-week booking altogether: we arrange scheduled and repeat collections and open commercial accounts with simple invoicing. Owning both the fleet and the Madeley processing facility means exchange timings stay in our hands rather than a subcontractor's, and as an Environment Agency registered waste carrier we issue the waste transfer notes your duty-of-care records require.
Eco-friendly disposal at our Madeley facility
A skip hired in Sundorne does not head for landfill by default. Once collected, the load travels back along the A5 and M54 to our own recycling facility in Madeley, where it is broken down and separated - timber, metal, rubble, soil and clean hardcore each pulled out for recovery and re-use. Better than 90% of the material we handle is kept out of landfill, and whatever can be recycled or recovered, is.
Loads from Sundorne can include the usual household mix: general and garden waste, renovation and building debris, timber, metal, bricks and rubble, soil and unwanted furniture. A short list of materials is barred from skips altogether, by law or for safety - asbestos, plasterboard (which needs to travel separately from general waste), batteries, paint and other liquids, tyres, electrical goods and WEEE, gas bottles and hazardous chemicals. If something has you doubtful, mention it when you book and we will explain the right way to dispose of it.
About Sundorne
Sundorne grew up through the middle decades of the twentieth century into one of Shrewsbury's established north-eastern suburbs, with the B5062 as its spine road. It is home to Shrewsbury Sports Village, the town's main sports centre, and to Shrewsbury Academy, formed in 2016 when Sundorne School merged with the Grange School. Carry on over Sundorne Roundabout and the B5062 leads out to the English Heritage ruins of Haughmond Abbey and the Forestry England trails on Haughmond Hill, while nearby on the Ditherington side sits the Old River Bed nature reserve - a former channel of the River Severn where a pair of beavers was introduced in February 2025. It is a proper, practical corner of Shrewsbury, and one we are glad to serve.
Green Skip Hire runs from our Madeley (TF7) depot, covering Telford, Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire area. For full coverage, prices and FAQs, see our main service hubs: skip hire in Shrewsbury and skip hire in Telford.
