Skip Hire Services in Ironbridge

We deliver skips across Ironbridge and the wider TF8 Gorge from £120, with same-day delivery subject to availability — and because our family-run depot is just up the hill in Madeley, we know these steep, narrow Gorge streets well.

Local skip hire across Ironbridge & the Gorge

Ironbridge is one of our closest postcodes — the depot is just up Madeley Road in Madeley, around a mile away — so we hire skips right across the village and the surrounding TF8 Gorge. Wherever you are in TF8, from the Wharfage down by the river to the cottages climbing Lincoln Hill, we can usually get a skip to you quickly. The Gorge also sits close to neighbouring communities along the River Severn, and we deliver across the river towards Broseley too.

We carry the full range at the depot: compact 3 and 4 yard skips that suit tight Gorge driveways, 6 yard skips for refits, our most popular 8 yard skip for bigger clear-outs, and 10 and 12 yard builders skips for renovation work. Because we own our own fleet and run our own drivers — no subcontractors — we can be flexible about timing and placement, which matters a lot on streets this narrow.

We'll aim to deliver the same day where we can, subject to availability. Every hire comes with 7 days as standard, and you can book online in about two minutes or just call us. We're a genuinely local, family-run firm that's served Telford and Shropshire for more than 20 years, and we're a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency.

Skip sizes for Ironbridge homes & projects

Ironbridge housing is unusually varied for its size — 17th and 18th-century workers' cottages, Georgian ironmasters' houses, Victorian villas, and newer homes on the slopes up towards Madeley — so the right skip really depends on the job. For a small garden tidy or a single-room clearance at a terraced cottage, a 3 or 4 yard skip is ideal and fits more easily onto a short or sloping private drive.

Doing a kitchen or bathroom refit? A 6 yard skip usually covers it. For a full house or garage clear-out, the 8 yard skip is our most popular choice — it swallows roughly 80 bin bags' worth and is the sweet spot for most domestic jobs. For an extension, loft conversion or a bigger renovation on one of the larger Gorge plots, the 10 or 12 yard builders skips give you the room you need.

One important tip: if you're getting rid of heavy material like soil, rubble, hardcore or old tiles, it's better to split it across a couple of smaller skips rather than fill one big one. Heavy waste hits the skip's weight limit long before it looks full, so smaller skips keep the load safe, legal and easy for our driver to lift on a tight Gorge street.

Same-day delivery to Ironbridge & TF8

Getting to Ironbridge from our Madeley depot is a short run — typically down Madeley Road (the B4373), dropping into the Gorge towards the river. From there we can reach the Wharfage, the High Street, Lincoln Hill, Hodge Bower and the lanes around the Iron Bridge itself, right across TF8.

That said, the Gorge has some of the trickiest streets we deliver to anywhere in Telford. Streets like the Wharfage and Lincoln Hill are narrow, steep and often busy with visitors, and access to riverside properties can be tight. We'll do our best to deliver the same day where we can, subject to availability, though on the steeper Gorge streets it always helps to tell us about the approach, parking and any pinch points when you book. Our drivers know these streets well and will work with you to place the skip safely.

Every skip we deliver goes onto your own private driveway, yard or land — the driver just needs a firm, level spot with clear access. If you're not sure your drive will take a particular size, send us a quick photo or description when you book and we'll recommend the skip that fits your space and your access.

Commercial skips around Ironbridge

Ironbridge runs on tourism and hospitality — the cafés, pubs, shops and guesthouses along the Wharfage and around the bridge, plus the museums and attractions across the Gorge — and all of that generates trade waste. We supply commercial skips and arrange scheduled or repeat collections for businesses that need waste cleared regularly without the hassle of booking each time.

For builders, joiners, landscapers and renovation teams working on the Gorge's older properties, our 8 to 12 yard builders skips handle construction and strip-out waste, and we can set up a rolling delivery-and-swap arrangement to keep a site moving. We also open commercial accounts for local firms who'd rather have one supplier and one invoice.

Because we own our fleet and run our own drivers, we can usually be responsive about timing — useful when a job overruns or a delivery slot needs to flex around a narrow street. Just tell us the type of waste, the volume and the access, and we'll set up the right schedule.

Eco-friendly disposal at our Madeley facility

Every Ironbridge skip comes back to our facility in Madeley, where loads are sorted by hand and machine rather than just tipped. We divert more than 90% of what we collect away from landfill — wood, metal, rubble, soil, green garden waste, furniture and general household and construction waste are separated for recycling or recovery wherever possible.

There are some things we can't take in a skip for safety and legal reasons: asbestos, plasterboard, batteries, paint and liquids, tyres, electrical items and WEEE, gas bottles, and any hazardous or chemical waste. If you've got any of these, give us a call before you book and we'll point you to the right way to deal with them — it keeps the load safe and keeps our recycling clean.

About Ironbridge

Ironbridge is a riverside village in the borough of Telford & Wrekin and takes its name from the world's first major cast-iron bridge, built across the River Severn in 1779 and opened on New Year's Day 1781 — the spot often called the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now part of the Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site, designated in 1986. It's one of Britain's most remarkable industrial landscapes.

We've cleared waste across these streets for more than 20 years, and the kinds of jobs we typically handle here — clear-outs at the cottages above the Wharfage and renovation work on the older Gorge properties — mean the steep lanes and tight access hold no surprises for our drivers.

Green Skip Hire runs from our Madeley (TF7) depot, covering Telford, Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire area. For full coverage, prices and FAQs, see our main service hubs: skip hire in Telford and skip hire in Shrewsbury.
